I love YOu can't do that on Television! I miss the show! It must be put back on the air! A Loyal Fan, Miko
I loved You Can't Do That On Television. It came on for Nick's birthday. It was really funny when the kids were saying I don't know and they got slimed and kids were saying water and they got water dumped on them. Do you guys have videos of the show?
I don't understand the attraction I had to this show, it had bad color and it was generaly Grose, but I would sneak around the house to watch it, becuase my mom did not like it and did not want me to watch it....maybe that is the reason why I became such a loyal fan...Well the early seasons, not newer ones. By then it lost me as a fan. Tammy Arizmendez was in Holland Michigan, now in Orlando Florida
YCDTOTV was one of my favorite shows growing up in the 80's. I LOVED Christine, and the show was just terrific... better than any other kids show on TV, especially after the demise of the Muppet Show. I hope one day to be able to get the early '82-'86 episodes on DVD. That would be fantastic!!
I'm 25 now, but I recall not being allowed to watch YCDToT (strict parents) but that only made my thirst for watching it greater. The still hasn't been a better kid's show in my opinion, so many gross out jokes. I live with the hope that someday they'll release it all on dvd. Anyone for an armpit burger?? I heard that!
This site is still the best for YCDTOTV!
i know where you can get ycdtotv episodes at kazzalite.i also think the show lasted for two reasons LES LYE...and some of the kids such as:christine lisa bradfield alisdair iain elizabeth mitchell kevin shenck mike lyon tim douglas cindy kennedy jim kevin somers rodney angie mike patton and my absolute favorite marc baillon...the rest of the cast members sucked eggs besides abby haygard another one of my favorites...
i have the answer to where alisdair is.hes back in school in ottawa and was at slimecon.i also liked this show alot especially the 1st season(1979) because theses episodes are the only ones i remember and im 20 yrs old.i also remember alisdair and justin.and blip was my favorite of les lyes portrails.my favorites were:lisa bradfield elizabeth mitchell alisdair les abby christine david iain and mike patton....
i just want to hail the whole concept of Alasdair in the dungeon. he's so cute... Les Lye's character is so gross... it's just so very wrong... and in the best way possible! (ESPECIALLY when the dungeon sketch follows the choir sketch. whew! man...) VIVA ALASDAIR IN CHAINS!!!!!!!!!!!
I really loved YCDTOTV. That was one of my best memories of the 80's. I especially loved to see the girls get slimed!!! Stephanie, and Saryia were hotties!!!!
Im so glad that I found this site! I used to watch this show a long time ago when I was pretty little, Im only 17 now, but I always remembered it was really funny. I ask people all of the time if they remember this show and most of my friends never seen it. It's cool to look at all the galleries, they really bring back alot of memories.
I loved this show. I used to watch it every week, and I still watch episodes that I find on websites. I wish they'd release it on dvd or vhs. It was one of my favorite shows. I even made a fanlisting for the show. Go join if you'd like, it's at http://ycdtotv.addicted-to-bliss.net
how i loved that showim now 40yrs of age but wish that you cant do that on telavsion was still on the airany fans please email me thanks great website
Please, please, please to the powers that be please find it in your heart to put reruns of the coolest show ever to watch when i was a kid back on the air. I am soon to be 30, and I know i am not alone in saying i would watch the reruns again to relive childhood memories. Everybody my age and older knew the show. Watched the show. And loved the show. It would be so cool to see old childhood friends back on the air. It would also introduce new fans to the coolest show for kids to watch. Anyway, thank you for your time.
What's up everyone? This has been the coolest site to visit. I'm always signing guest books from everything you can think of, but I think I'm going to make this my last guestbook entry for this site. I think the cast was great and will always be remembered. If anyone ever wants to email me and chat about this show, please do. I always like recieving email from cool people, who incude all of you YCDTOT fans.
Nick has not been the same in quite a while. The current crop of toons has some good items such as "The Fairly Odd Parents",but "All That" and "The Amanda Show" are at times just stupid. Nothing like the consistent quality of "You Can't Do That on Television". It is surprising also how the gifted cast just dropped out of sight. They nearly all should have had careers in comedy for years. Christine would have done well for "Saturday Night Live" as would Alisdair.(I wonder if he still has the perm?.) Also Abby and Les deserved better. t
Does anybody know Christine McGlade's birthdate?
i like the in live in canadan of nickelodeon of green slime sketch and always lisa ruddy slimed 10 times in a row without stopping and christine mcglade get wet of water 999 times without stopping for the interactive dvd on cd copy a nd good luck or the slime be with you
My favorite skit was in the enemies episode my brother taped a few years ago when Adam and Matt had to fight over who would take Alanis out on a date and when Adam lost, he had to take Alanis out on a date! That was so funny that the loser of the battle ended up with Alanis! Oh, and when she was pied in the face at the end of the episode, that also was funny.
I loved this show and watched it every week on YTV. YCDTOTV was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I loved the firing squad part, kids getting slimed and I think there was the wolfman radio and the dungon. All the parts were great. I wish they would try and put the show on reruns in canada. It's was a ground breaking canadaian t.v. show first before it was in the U.S. You could bring it back and do it for a new generation of kids.
I am 18 now I really don't remember much of you can't do that on televison. But I seen some reruns. A fue years ago I had a dream i was in barths and lost my lunch on barth. yuk.
i like ycdtotv a lot of green slime very messy and fun and still like lisa ruddy and christine mcglade a lot of they do get slimed of the catch phrase was i don,t know is good graet comedy show the whole wide world
Hi everyone! I just wanted to talk about how talented and funny Christine McGlade was! In my opinion, she was the best cast member on the show. She had such a great personality, don't you think?
Somebody Please Tell Me Who Offered Free Episodes Of YCDTOTV?
I really enjoyed watching You Can't Do That On Television and really wish that they would bring back all the episodes! Especially the earlier ones!!!! I loved those characters! If anyone has any taped old episodes and is willing to sell them to me, then just let me know and maybe we could strike up a deal?
Started watching this in the mid 80s when I was about 18 or 19. It made a great change from what what currently on the tube. At first I thought it might be too childish. Of course it *was* so I had to sneak to watch it so I wasn't discovered. Ha ha! Now I have several episodes I downloaded and it really brings back memories. This was great stuff! I hope everybody on the show has fond memories of it like I do.
i love having alanis slimed. i can't stand her! the torture jokes with the kid prisoner is so extremely funny!!!
Hey, what's up? You YCDTOT fans seem really cool! You guys are the coolest. -mike-
I used to watch you can`t do that on televison in 89-90 I would relly like to watch it all over agane. MY baet memorey of You can`t do that on televison was when Alyson Court as Christine got slimed 5 times. I just wonering could you guys bring it back to televison please. Michael Day
My brother got me a little hooked on the show-- especially when I found a couple episodes he had taped a year or two back (this was about 1991?) and I never got tired of re-watching the tape over and over. Best things about the show were the slimings and waterings! I used to love when it would happen! REALLY interested in reruns. If there are any? What time and channel? I have satellite t.v. Otherwise, wish I still had some episodes on tape!
Alright! Who's using my name & e-mail & saying that I don't like the show anymore & that I have episodes to trade? This is not true
The show seem good. I think they had a good cast on the show. Some of the people who have signed the guest book seem to not like the show anymore, but I think the show will always have its fans.
I would just like to publically announce I don't like YCDTOTV anymore and I especially don't like Alisdair anymore. I find the show boring now and not funny anymore. Plese feel free to email me for YCDTOTV tapes because I have no need for them anymore. I have about 120 episodes on vhs that I'm willing to give away for free.
Baby Mama, you're mean! That's not nice of you to talk about YCDTOTV like that!
Christine McGlade's cherry tastes like Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia! And no, she is not a natural redhead (AKA 1983). Ah, those good old days at Blackburn Public! Ever do it on a motorcycle down the middle of Merivale at 4:00 AM in the morning? Remember Moose???
I LOVED YCDTOTV! I REALLY WISH THEY WOULD BRING IT BACK LIKE ON NICK AT NITE OR SOMETHING. BRINGS BACK SOME GOOD TIMES. THE 80'S ROCK!!!!!!!!!
I loooooved YCDTOTV simply because of Christine McGlade. I thought she was soooo hot! I loooved seeing her barefoot on the show. I'll suspect that I'm the only one who feels this way, but I don't care.
I love Degrassi the next generation on noggin and i wish soooo bad i could see the old degrassi!!!!If you have not seen it you need to see the next generation!!It has Spike and Snake and Mr.Raditch and Joey, ect!!!!!
If anyone knows where i can purchace o ycdtot t shirt please email me. PLEASE! Thanks alot!! :)
Its amazing what boredom will do for ya and how mad u can get when your aim keeps cutting u off. lol
I'm bored, too, Alasdair. :-)
Courtney My name is the same as the Alasdair on YCDTOTV. My actual birth name is Alisdair Gillis. small word eh!! lol
It's kind of seeming like you're not really Alasdair Gillis. Sounds like someone's playing a joke on me
No you didnt make me feel uncomfortable at all. LOL Yeah I was and still am a huge Alasdair fan. I always thought it was cool that I have the same name as Alasdair on YCDTOTV. I hoep to meet him someday. Maybe at slimecon 04!!
Is everything alright,Alasdair? I don't mean to make you feel uncomfortable
But It's nice to talk to you here!:)
Yes this is the real Alasdair G. I feel kinda weird talking on a guestbook but its the only way I can contact u without giving out my email address.I hope u understand.
Is this the real Alasdair?
Hi courtney. I want u not my girlfriend
What a great websight dedicated to the best show ever (well maybe not ever). The slime, water, pie charts are helpful, although not complete. Does anyone remember the shows greatest sliming? Chris Bickford got it good on a show from '89, I think it was. Anyway, it was at the end of the show and slime is poured over Bickford for the entire duration of the credits. Who took the most pies in the face? I'd say either Ian Fingler, Alisdair Gillis, or ,unfortunately, the cute Lisa Ruddy? Well Fingler only lasted one season but was pied often and I think Gillis was pied more than Ms. Ruddy. Am I correct or am I all wet (ha, ha, I should be watered down for that). Anyway, the show was original; the first real "gross out" show on T.V. Bye for now.
lisa ruddy get slimed and christine slimed downlaod pictuer
I never cauht the early episode of ycdtotv. Could you air it on nick of gas?
ALASDAIR,I LOVE YOU!!:x. Always!!
Cool site - lots of excellent pix. What?

There is a petition in which you can sign if you want YCDTOTV on vhs. There are currently 0 signatures, and our goal is 10. Once we get 10 signatures, we'll forward the petition to TMC. You can find the petition at this address: http://www.petition.com Hop on the bandwagon and sign the petition today! There is no chance for YCDTOTV to be released on DVD.
WOW! This is bringing back SO many memories! Green slime! Barf's Burgers! Wow! Would LOVE to find out if the YCDTOTV show's are on DVD or video. IT seems as we grow older, we wish for our child hood memories. Happy to know the memories of the show are still out there! If anyone has information on to purchase the previous shows to view at home, please email me. Thanks again for the memories! :)
Hi!I am looking for all episodes of YCDTOTV. I would like to start my collection with Whatever Turns You On. I want the whole series, because I am a big fan of the show (started this year). If you are interested in making copies of your episodes, please e-mail me. Thanks!!
Looking for episodes of YCDTOTV. I would like to start my library with the original 1979 pilot episode Whatever Turns You On. I would accept the whole series, because I am a huge fan of the show (started this yesr). If you are interested in making me a copy of your episodes, please e-mail me. Okay, thanx!
I remember watching YCDTOTV back when Nickleodeon was a comercial free station. I really liked the You Can't... show. I taped several episodes and still think it's funny. The only thing I did NOT like is the unceremoniosly way the show just diappeared from off the line up. I really think YCDTOTV is responsible for a lot of the things I now see ( interms of ideas) on Nick. I always thought of YCDTOTV as a kind of a juvenile version of Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. I think it's time for a YCDTOTV special with old kids, new kids and special guest stars. yipes@hotmail
im trying to find episodes of "you cant do that on television" so i can show my kids wat i used to watch, if u can email me to let me know how to download, i would greatly appreciate it
una biko i don land this place
"Something in your gentle voice echoed through my soul for all these years like music from another world, you alone could always seem to hear so clear Hey, Pauline I can hear it now Oh, you taught me how I had to listen, listen with my heart Hey, Pauline, it wasn't just a dream Dreams are only wishes if they can't come true-- Yeah, but they do Hey, Pauline" --"HEY, PAULINE" by Randy Stonehill (C) 2002 Stonehillian Music That's part of the song that got me interested in YCDTOTV again. You can find that album at www.randystonehill.com :)
I just watched "City Life" again recently, it's the episode I remembered best from when I actually watched it as a 12/13-year-old. Funny, funny material. I think all of the kids on that episode were really spotlighted well, you know, it wasn't so-and-so's show, it was everyones, and they were: Matthew Godfrey, Vanessa Lordes (?), Doug P., Adam Reid, and Andrea. A great show. I'd say it's still my favorite, with "Enemies and Paranoia" and "Know-It-Alls" falling closely behind.
I watched this show constantly when I was a kid and I LOVED it. It was funny and gross and everything you like at that age. I always had the biggest crush on Moose..........
Man, this was a freak show. Little kids sitting on adults laps, kids getting crapped on in a toilet, that boy doing his thing in undies with the producer! No wonder things are in a bad state of affairs. I am glad this kind of filth is no longer on the air. It's downright criminal!
Gosh.. What a fun site this is! So many memories of loafing in front of the television when other kids who actually had friends were outside playing! It's so nice to be older and remember my childhood with fondness, especially now that I'm OKAY with having had a gigantic crush on Alasdair. Makes perfect sense now (and should have made the years to come a bit easier to understand).
i would like lisa ruddy and christine for the green slime top 20 list please for gusetbook to do for fun together both lisa chirtine slimed together i do reload fast foward and rewind going back the same for new green slime up and down repeat forward and backwrads for the slime plaes love matthew
The shows are awsome, used to watch them all the time. to bad they are off the air. However there is one thing we would like to know... What years did the show run? If anyone can answer this question, we would love to hear from you, please contact us at the address shown above. Thank you!
YCDTOTV is still one of my favorite shows.I will be 26 this July, yet I remain a loyal fan after all this time.My best friend Beth who's 28 is also still a fan.Would anyone know about any eposodes being on video? If so please e mail me.Would also like to be e mail pals with other girl's who were crazy about Alistar and Brodie.By the way,as a child,I totaly looked up to Lisa Ruddy and Christine(Moose)McGlade. Sincerly,Colleen
I think that YCDTOTV is just as funny as the first day I watched it!
I watched the show in its first years at CTV. I would love to know more about the first cast including pictures. I love this site.
Hey! I am SO glad I found this site!! I used to have a MAAAJOR thing for Vanessa when I was younger... Thanks for the great site, and all the memories...;-) Peter F
What's Your Favorite Episode(s)? I'd have to say mine are... Enemies and Paranoia--Adam Reid steals this show with that ridiculous wrestling outfit and the scene with the rubber ducky. And the Opposite Sketch where he is a bully who does homework and gives candy bars. Know-It-Alls--Matthew Godfrey's introduction to the series. I think this episode had a bit of social commentary, with all of the kids jealous of Matthew's giftedness. Part-Time Jobs--It may not have been his first episode, but this is where we really get to know Matthew's younger brother, Amyas. It also features the recurring scene of Adam getting fired from one job after another. Contests--"You know I hate being called Matthers!" Matthew attempts to count jelly beans for a contest. Parties--Alanis Morrisette. Adam fools his principal into believing he is turning 75-years-old in order to get out of detention. and, althoguh I haven't seen them in 15 years, Country City Life and Home (where they discover the principal is a robot) are memorable to me.
Its unfortunate Lisa Ruddy is married. As an adolescent growing up in Ottawa in the 80's, she was just so hot. Of course, I mean this in a nostalgic manner, not a creepy way HTH
This is a great site with tons of picutres (more, more, more please)! Brings back all the best memories of the show (besides the great cast): the locker room, Barth's Burgers, the dungeon, the firing squad, Blip's Arcade, pies in the face, water drenchings, and of course... the SLIME! Didn't EVERYONE love the slime? I don't know! Haven't seen an episode in so long but I'd love to chat with any old fans of this great show from the 80's.
This was the greatest show ever!!! I remember how mad it made my parents that I used to watch it.!!! Long Live YCDTOTV!!! did somebody say water??!!!!
Yeah it's a great show and im glad i bought them on dvd, and just the other day i finally found the only season i was missing so now i have the whole collection, which is probably the smartest thing i did. So this website is pretty much gone now though, since everyone found out that we can buy it all on dvd's.
i seriously had no clue that this show was so popular, all i had before i found this sight was faded memories, i would give anything to get this show on air its about tied with snl, mad tv, friends, but it's so mostly because i was so young and i really want to bring back just a few memories of that wonderful show.
I loved this show for so many reasons,it was always funny, they always had something new even if it was with the same sets, and i loved how they always got slimmed. I remember one episode where one of the people say how thirsty he is and how much he wants water but when he says "water" he gets slimed instead. I also like the one where this one girl broke her leg and was in a cast and crutches and only has the toes of her feet sticking out, so Ross came up with his feather duster and tickled her toes which made her laugh so much she ended up falling in the trash can and couldn't get out and you never actually find out how she got out.
I had forgotten all about this show until I saw a commercial the other day about old school Nickelodeon---lol----I used to love it. Kevin K rocked! I am too old for this--lol
i dey here my brothers
I loved this show so much growing up!!! I would love to find some footage of it. And relive those moments!
Hi! I'm looking for an 8 x 10--color or black and white--of the 1986 cast photo. If you can help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Mark
So you and I both wonder where Alasdair is.
Amara, you're cool. I agree with you about Alasdair! I want him SO bad!
Best show to grow up to! Where are the re-runs? Why is Germany the only place to run the show?! Alasdair, where are you?! I had the BIGGEST crush on you!
i've been a big fan of ycdtotv since we got it here in the late 80;s in Australia when The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation screened then at a 5.30pm timeslot on a show called The Afteroonshow i got hooked from episode 1 :) I did taoe them i wish i had kept them if i had known they won;t be repeated Christine rulez she was the best Host :) long live YVDtotv :)
